Limitations of the Clear Housing
Clear housings transmit light, which is why they're not used in commercial UV systems or in applications where biological growth on the cartridge is a concern. For typical household installations on chlorinated water, biological growth isn't an issue — the chlorine kills it before it reaches the cartridge. If your supply is unchlorinated tank or bore water, prefer an opaque-housing filter and consider a UV-equipped system for pathogen treatment.
