A single-stage whole-house carbon filter with a clear housing that lets you visually monitor the cartridge condition without unscrewing the bowl - a simple feature that completely changes the service experience for owners who'd otherwise be guessing at cartridge replacement timing.

Why a Clear Housing Changes Things

A solid-bowl filter housing hides the cartridge from view. Owners change cartridges on a calendar schedule (typically 6 or 12 months) regardless of actual saturation. That's fine, but it often means changing too early (waste of money) or too late (no warning when conditions push cartridges to early saturation).

A clear housing shows you the cartridge state:

• A clean new cartridge sits white and bright inside the housing
• A loaded cartridge discolours visibly - sediment buildup, brown staining from rust or chlorine, or grey saturation
• A failed cartridge shows channels or breaks in the media

For whole-house installations where the filter housing sits exposed (garage wall, under-house clearance, mechanical room), the clear-housing version is a meaningful service-discipline upgrade.

Limitations of the Clear Housing

Clear housings transmit light, which is why they're not used in commercial UV systems or in applications where biological growth on the cartridge is a concern. For typical household installations on chlorinated water, biological growth isn't an issue - the chlorine kills it before it reaches the cartridge. If your supply is unchlorinated tank or bore water, prefer an opaque-housing filter and consider a UV-equipped system for pathogen treatment.

What This System Targets

This carbon-filtration system is designed primarily for chlorine, taste and odour improvement. Activated carbon can also reduce a range of organic compounds depending on the carbon media, contact time and flow rate.
