What's in the Set
Per the manufacturer's per-stage breakdown:
- Stage 1 — Sediment filtration, 5 micron: removes rust, dirt, and large particles using a poly sediment filter
- Stage 2 — Granular activated carbon (GAC), 5 micron: eliminates unpleasant tastes, odours, and chlorine — the bulk chlorine-reduction stage
- Stage 3 — Coconut activated carbon block, 5 micron: finer polish targeting residual contaminants; coconut-shell carbon for higher surface area than coal-based
Service Interval
Each cartridge has a recommended replacement interval of approximately 6 months under typical Australian town water conditions. Heavier loads (rural tank, bore, or hard water) may need more frequent changes; lighter use or seasonal installations can stretch longer.
Compatibility
Fits any standard 20" × 2.5" Big Blue cartridge housing. If your system uses the wider 20" × 4.5" format, use the 3-stage 20" × 4.5" replacement set instead. Cartridges of these two sizes are not interchangeable despite both being labelled "Big Blue".
