A 24V DC high-pressure switch — the partner control to the low-pressure switch on the supply side. Sits on the pump outlet (or pressure tank side) and stops the booster pump when the RO permeate tank fills and outlet pressure rises above the cut-off threshold.
What This Switch Does
An RO system fills its permeate storage tank over time — typically 1–3 hours from empty, depending on membrane capacity. Once the tank is full, the storage pressure rises until it back-pressures against the membrane. If the booster pump kept running against a full tank, the pump would cycle continuously against a closed system, wasting power and stressing both pump and membrane.
The high-pressure switch is the demand-side interlock that prevents this:
- Normally-open (N/O) — circuit open by default
- Closes when outlet pressure is below threshold — pump runs and refills the tank
- Opens when outlet pressure exceeds the cut-off (typically 35–40 PSI) — pump stops, tank holds pressure for on-demand delivery
When you draw water from the RO tap, tank pressure drops, the switch closes, and the pump re-engages to refill. This is the automatic pump-cycling logic that makes domestic RO systems run unattended for months at a time.

Residential and small commercial 24V DC RO booster pump installations need both pressure switches:
- One 24V low-pressure switch on the pump inlet (prevents dry running)
- One high-pressure switch (this product) on the pump outlet (prevents over-pressurisation)
