Top screw — clockwise increases pressure

A plastic pressure reducing valve for RO and water filter installations where mains pressure exceeds the components' working range. Adjustable from 0-6 bar output regardless of inlet pressure up to 25 bar — full pressure control for sensitive downstream filtration equipment.

When Pressure Reduction Is Necessary

Different components in a water filter system have different pressure tolerances:

  • RO membrane housings: rated 60-125 PSI (4-8.5 bar)
  • Pre-filter cartridge housings: rated 60-90 PSI (4-6 bar)
  • Plastic quick-connect fittings: rated to 100-125 PSI (7-8.5 bar)
  • RO faucets: rated 80-100 PSI (5.5-7 bar)

If your mains pressure is at the top of the range — 100-125 PSI is common in newer subdivisions and high-rise buildings — your components are running at full design pressure all the time, with no margin for transient spikes.

A pressure reducing valve drops the working pressure to a safe level:

  • Reduces failure rate of plastic fittings and housings
  • Eliminates pressure-spike damage from mains transients
  • Improves cartridge life by reducing media compaction
  • Quiets noisy plumbing (high-pressure flows are louder)

How It Works

A spring-loaded diaphragm balances inlet pressure against an adjustable spring force. As outlet pressure rises toward the setpoint, the diaphragm closes the valve. As demand draws water out and pressure drops below setpoint, the valve opens.

The adjustment screw on top sets the spring force — clockwise increases outlet pressure, counterclockwise reduces it.

Specifications

  • Material: POM plastic (polyoxymethylene — engineering-grade plastic)
  • Inlet/outlet: 1/4" (6mm) quick-connect
  • Maximum inlet pressure: 25 bar (~360 PSI — far above any mains pressure you'll encounter)
  • Outlet pressure adjustment range: 0-6 bar (0-87 PSI)
  • Flow rate: 1 L/min at 4 bar outlet
  • Style: spring-loaded diaphragm regulator with adjustable setpoint

Installation

  1. Identify flow direction (arrow on body)
  2. Push inlet tube into upstream port
  3. Push outlet tube into downstream port
  4. Adjust outlet pressure with the top screw — small adjustments, then test
  5. Confirm setpoint with a pressure gauge downstream

Typical setpoint for residential RO: 60-65 PSI (4-4.5 bar) — protects components while maintaining full membrane production rate.

Key features

  • Plastic pressure reducing valve with adjustable outlet
  • 1/4" (6mm) quick-connect fittings
  • Adjustable outlet pressure 0-6 bar
  • Maximum inlet pressure 25 bar (~360 PSI)
  • POM engineering plastic body
  • 1 L/min flow rate at 4 bar outlet
  • Protects RO membranes, filters, and fittings from over-pressure
  • Spring-loaded diaphragm regulator design

Recommended for

  • Properties with mains pressure above 80 PSI / 5.5 bar
  • RO systems with plastic housings at risk from pressure spikes
  • High-rise buildings with elevated mains pressure
  • Reducing noise in high-pressure plumbing
  • Extending the life of plastic quick-connect fittings

Compliance & certification

Pressure reducing valve installed within water filter system, downstream of meter, not subject to WaterMark.

I had a great experience with Enviro Aqua — what you see is truly what you get, and most of all not misleading like other shops I have experienced. These guys are honest and humble.
